2016 Reports on Measures

During 2016 the UK exceeded target values for two pollutants benzo[a]pyrene (B[a]P) and nickel (Ni). These were reported in September 2017 as part of the UK’s annual compliance assessment (see Air Pollution in the UK 2016). 

The reports below are published to provide more detail of the assessment of these exceedances and to report action and measures that have already been taken or are planned that will help the UK meet these target values. An overview report is provided for each pollutant followed by more detailed information on any exceedances by zone.

Benzo[a]pyrene

Of the 43 zones and agglomerations in the UK, the target value for benzo[a]pyrene was exceeded in four (4) zones or agglomerations:
