What is the purpose of the network?

The nitrogen dioxide measurements made in this sampling programme are used to map the background concentrations of the gas for Pollution Climate Mapping (PCM) and modelling.

What is measured?

The nitrogen dioxide measurements are made using diffusion tubes. Since 2022 the diffusion tubes have been modified with a wind protection cap to reduce potential positive bias resulting from the effects of wind turbulence.
