2020 NO2 and PM projections data (2018 reference year)

« Return to NO2 Air quality plans

Projections for concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) across the UK in the years 2019 - 2030 inclusive, have been calculated as part of a Pollution Climate Mapping (PCM) model assessment.

Projections for particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) have also been calculated across the UK in the years 2020, 2025 and 2030.

The baseline projections represent the projected concentrations assuming no further action beyond the air quality measures that were committed by the reference year (2018). The 'Read Me' tab in the NO2 Baseline Projections file and the PM10 & PM2.5 Baseline Projections file contains more information.

The results for the base year and projected roadside NO2 concentrations for approximately 9,000 modelled road links may be downloaded in spreadsheet format via the following link:

These projections incorporate an updated classification of urban and rural roads in England, Scotland and Wales. This classification uses an updated evidence base to provide an improved assessment of the road network in urban and rural areas. Since the PCM model provides roadside concentrations for major urban roads, these projections are based on an updated 2018 assessment including changes to the set of road links modelled, as a result of applying the updated road classifications.
