Improving air quality: consultation on a Clean Air Strategy
News published: 22/05/2018
The UK Government is consulting on what actions they think the Clean Air Strategy should cover when it’s published later this year. It will set out how the UK Government thinks all sources of air pollution should be managed in England and how they will work with the governments of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to take action. They are also proposing new primary legislation, which was last updated in the Clean Air Act 1993, which will give new powers to local government and new tools to enable the impact of air pollution to be considered in every relevant policy decision, which would create stronger laws for dealing with air pollution.
The consultation documents are on Citizen Space at https://consult.defra.gov.uk/environmental-quality/clean-air-strategy-consultation/. The consultation closes at 23:45 on 14th August 2018.
