Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does air pollution have a effect on increased levels of asthma?

There is no proven causal link between ambient air pollution and asthma but the epidemiological data suggest that asthma systems can be aggravated by pollution, although the evidence to date indicates that this effect is relatively small when compared with several other factors that contribute to asthma symptoms (e.g. smoking). This is discussed in the report: Asthma and outdoor air pollution.
