Defra’s Air Quality Grant Programme 2011/12

It was announced by Lord Henley on 4th April 2011 at the EPUK Spring Workshop that Defra will be providing £2 million in grants to improve local air quality in England through the Local Authority Grant Scheme.

This year the grant scheme will focus on providing support for local authority action planning with priority given to projects which tackle exceedences of the UK nitrogen dioxide objectives and EU limit values. Eligibility for grant will be limited to those Local Authorities with one or more Air Quality Management Areas for NO₂ and those authorities where Defra’s national air quality assessment in 2009 as reported to the EU Commission, identified an exceedence in their area.
